Uncle Ho Temple on sacred Ba Vi Mountain

At the highest peak of Ba Vi mountain chain with the summit of 1,269m, Uncle Ho’s Temple is always warm with incense-smoke and fresh flowers.
President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the people of Vietnam has been always in every Vietnamese citizen’s heart. After his death, he had left untold grief to the people around the country. Not
only in Nghe An province, the homeland of Uncle Ho, but the people around the country have also set up altars to him everywhere from households, offices, provinces to countries, where he traveled and landed on the way to find a way to save the nation. Even in the many temples, pagodas, shrines also set up the altar to President Ho Chi Minh to show the respect him. One of the well-known worship places is Uncle Ho Temple on sacred Ba Vi Mountain.
The temple is located at an altitude of 1,269m, which is the highest peak of the Ba Vi range. It is said that when Uncle Ho was still alive, he wanted his bone-ash to be placed in three locations, including a place on Ba Vi Mountain. Therefore, the idea of building a temple to him here according to his aspiration was mentioned and immediately responded. The work was started in early March 1999 and completed at the end of August 1999.

On the stone altar, there is Uncle Ho bronze statue, above is a horizontal lacquered board with famous saying “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” and a national flag made of red granite. |

From the gate of Ba Vi National Park, it must overcome over 10 km of pass road to come the three-door temple gate of the Uncle Ho temple. From here, it must clime more than 1,300 steps to go to the temple. |

Visitors go through primeval forest with ancient trees which are covered by mould and green moss. |

People around the country, overseas Vietnamese and foreigners go to here to visit late President Ho Chi Minh, especially on the occasion of the year end and beginning of the year. |

Before the temple is a monolithic great stone stele, a segment of funeral oration of the Vietnam Labour Party Central Committee delivered during the funeral ceremonies of late President Ho Chi Minh in 1969, is carved on one side of the stone stele. |

On the other hand is carved autograph of late President Ho Chi Minh’s testament. |

Two sides of the altar are bronze bell and ancient bronze gong made by craftsmen in Nam Dinh province. |

On the wall of the temple’s gable, there is a shape of bronze drum, map of Vietnam and yellow letter line in Vietnamese language: “Vietnam is one country, the Vietnamese people are one nation. Rivers may be shallow, mountains may be eroded, but the truth will never change. President Ho Chi Minh” |

With the cultural and old belief architecture, Uncle Ho temple was built to worship a modern historical character. The scale of the work is very modest but hallmark is unique. |

Go to near the Uncle Ho temple, the two sides of the steps are grown with small bamboo. |

On the peak of the mountain, Bao Thien tower with 13 layers and the height of 26.9m was built in 2011 besides Uncle Ho temple. |
