The idea of raising salmon at Pa Vay Su was started by Colonel Duong Trong Dong, Commander of the National Defence Headquarters in Lai Chau province.
The frontier post of Pa Vay Su in Lai Chau was assigned to run a breeding farm for salmon in 2008. The farm earns around VND2 billon from breeding fish each year, a major business in the northwestern mountainous province.
