West Lake lotus’s special characteristics

Hanoians always wait for the kind of flower that grows mild during the heat of summer. This year lotus blossoms on windy West Lake bringing gentle perfume and subtle colours. A new season of lotus blossoms has come. 

 Although lotus is planted in ponds and lakes all around Hanoi and sold on many streets, lotus on West Lake is the favourite because of its multi-petal flowers and perfumed flowers and even in leaves. Lotus on West Lake are also bigger than others.

 Lotus is often picked at dawn and dusk. Each year, lotus can only be harvested for several weeks. Lotus flowers, leaves, bodies and bulbs can all be used. 

 Lotus season is a favourite time for photographers, when they can take photographs amidst nature's bounty

 Lotus tea is made from fresh lotus and scented in the flower. People can only enjoy this kind of tea in lotus season.
