Oil painting exhibition opens in Dong Van stone plateau

An art exhibition titled “Karst Plateau” with 20 oil paintings highlighting Ha Giang’s mountains and people has opened in Dong Van stone plateau on September 1.

The painter has visited the karst plateau many times and fell in love with the land and its people, who have given him great inspiration for his artwork.

The exhibition is co-organised by the Vietnam News Agency’s Sports and Culture Newspaper and the Dong Van district People’s Committee.

Dong Van Karst Plateau, a member of the Global Network of National Geo-parks since 2010, is 80 percent limestone and contains the fossils of thousands of species of prehistoric creatures from 400-600 million years ago. Today it is home to 250,000 people from 17 different ethnic groups.

 At the opening ceremony, Mr. Trieu Tai Vinh, member of the Party Central
 Committee, Secretary of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee,
 visited the exhibition.

 The exhibition house became an art space for the pan-pipe playing
of the H’Mong ethnic group.

 After the market on Sunday, H’Mong ethnic people were fascinated with
 and excited about the exhibition.

 Artist Do Duc shared that his biggest happiness was having people
see themselves in the paintings.

 Beside the minority visitors, the exhibition also attracted the lowlanders

 Many foreign tourists dropped by the exhibition and took photos

 The “Karst Plateau” exhibition opened on September 1 in Dong Van old
quarter, Ha Giang and
will last until September 3.
