On the afternoon of October 1, hundreds of families in Quynh Trang commune, Quynh Luu district in the central province of Nghe An were cut off by floodwaters as the floodgates of Vuc Mau Lake had to be fully opened.

Earlier, the torrential rains of Typhoon Wutip swept across Quynh Luu district, causing flooding from the higher ground. Therefore, the district irrigation control had to release water at its maximum capacity of some 1,500 cubic metres per second.

The Quynh Trang communal authority and the military and police forces assisted in taking people and their property to higher ground to escape the rising water.

Reservoirs released flood to prevent them from being broken.
