(CPV) – On November 10, the Sunflower Festival “For child cancer patients” 2013 was held at the Hanoi Students Cultural House, 37 Tran Binh Trong street.
This annual event, one of “Thuy’s dreams program” activities, which is co-organised by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Vietnam Youth Union and the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund (Ministry of Health), attracts around 5,000 people including youth, benefactors and sponsors.
Many activities were held during the day, including making a sunflower field, exhibiting paintings drawn by children with cancer, giving scholarships to child patients cured of the disease, raising funds for patients, performing arts, praising volunteering activities, and showing gratitude for sponsors.
At the event, 61 scholarships, each worth VND5 million, were granted to Hanoi children who recovered from cancer.
The Sunflower Festival will help to share the efforts and dreams of child cancer patients with the community. It will also contribute to increasing community awareness about cancer.
