Central province gives steel ship to fisherman

 Sang Fish 1 was designed by the Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering Joint-Stock Company and built by the Nha Trang Shipbuilding Company.

 The ship structure was linked together by welding. It includes a diesel driving force and one screw operating as part of its speed reduction box.

 The ship is capable of fishing all day and night. The caught fish can be preserved in 6 cold holds with ice that provide for a volume of 150 cubic metres and can keep the ice for up to 45 days.

 The ship has a length of 25.21 metres, a width of 7.8 metres, an engine capacity of 750 CV, a speed of 10.5 nautical miles per hour and provides for a 18-fisherman crew.

 The ship is equipped with a diverse number of modern devices, including radars, Global Positioning System (GPS) machines, radios, magnetic compass, 2 generators of 160 KVA serving the lighting system, a machine to track fish, materials enough for the ship’s operation over 2,000 nautical miles, and food for 30 days.

 The ship was built with VND7.3 billion advanced by SBIC and the ship owner will pay it of at no interest for 7 years.

 This is the 4^th ship model of 10 that have been built by the corporation in Nam Dinh and Quang Ngai provinces. The first 3 have been used by fishermen, confirming their safety, high speed and good preservation of products.

 During the ceremony to hand over the ship, Phan Be, the owner (left), was happy to receive the ship. “As Chinese ships have become more and more aggressive at sea, the building of the steel ship will help fishermen become more confident in fishing offshore, contributing to protect sea and island sovereignty,” he said. “The steel ship will help to increase the fishing ability and avoid risks caused by storms.”

 After Sang Fish 1, the Nha Trang Shipbuilding Company will build 2 steel ships of 700 CV for fishermen in Quang Ngai province. The two ships are expected to be completed in 100 days./.
