Limestone masterpieces in Ha Long bay

On boats in the heart of Ha Long bay, tourists can stimulate their imagination with hundreds of limestone islands of strange shapes.

Ha Long bay, situated in west of the Tonkin Golf, belongs to Ha Long-Cam Pha cities and part of Van Don island group in the northern province of Quang Ninh. It was recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as world natural heritage for its outstanding natural beauty in 1994 and for its geological value in 2010. |

Tourists are attracted by both the grandiose cave system and the stone islands. Among nearly 2,000 small and large islands, 980 have been named. The majority of them have been named based on the shape of the islands. |
