Nation’s largest heroic mother monument to be inaugurated

The largest monument honouring Vietnamese heroic mothers will be inaugurated in March 24th in the central province of Quang Nam on the occasion of the province’s 40th celebration of founding and 85th year of the provincial Party Committee founding.

The monument was modeled by heroic mother Nguyen Thi Thu in Dien Thang commune, Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province, who is the mother and grandmother of 11 martyrs.

It has been built on an area of 15 hectares on the peak of the Cam Mountain in Tam Ky city, using a total capital of VND411 billion.

 

 According to the assessment of sculptors and architects, this is the largest monument in the country and Southeast Asia.

 

 It is a painstaking work that has taken the engineers, architects and sculpture artists 6 years to collect the desired stone materials and build it.

 

 There is a stone gardens for poems about Vietnamese heroic mothers.

 Painter Dinh Gia Thang, who outlined the monument, said that this had been the largest artistic work he has ever contributed towards. For him, the work contains a soul in the honour of Vietnamese mothers.

 

 The granite was taken from the central province of Binh Dinh. Each rock weighs 60-110 tons. The smallest is 1.5 metres long, 1.8 metres wide and 1 metre high, while the largest is 4.8 metres, 2 metres and 2.5 metres, showing the painstaking work involved in finding rock for the monument.

 

 The volume of granite is up to 3,000 cubic metres and weighs 20,000 tons. Rocks are arranged one by one to create the monument.

 Eight pole of granite is 2 meters in diameter and has a height of 11.2 metres.

 

 The monument has already been recognized as a national cultural work by the Prime Minister. The monument is 18 metres high and was built in bow of 120 metres long.

 

 In the back side of the monument is a memorial house of Vietnamese heroic mothers which has an area of 400 square metres and includes a table honouring the names and the devotion for the nation of nearly 50,000 Vietnamese heroic mothers across the country.

 In the heart of the 120 metre long bow granite rocks is a museum of Vietnamese heroic mothers with an area of 397 square metres.

 

 The monument is linked with a large lake of 1,000 square metres. The monument campus also includes 15 hectares of a wide grass field, a stone garden and a green trees area.

 
 

Although it has not been inaugurated yet, it attracts a lot of visitors each day.
