Sixty years ago, May 13th became a milestone in the history of Hai Phong city when it marked the liberation of the city and of the whole northern region to step into a new historic period.
Hai Phong city was established on the eastern sea gate of the northern region, holding a strategic position of significant economic and military importance.
From a colonial city, it has become a port city, the largest international traffic hub of the north, a national industrial center with a large rural area. Over the past 5 years, despite difficulties, the port city has recorded important achievements with significant expansion economically represented by an increase of GDP 1.52 times higher over the 5 year period since 2010.
The city has attracted a diverse range of large scale and hi-tech projects from large and prestigious groups from all over the world.
Exports from the city reach 118 countries and territories. Together with economic success, many strategic infrastructure projects have been ongoing, creating a new impetus for the city to continue its development and establish greater success.

Hai Phong city-based Bridgestone Vietnam Factory, a foreign-invested factory with an investment of USD447.8 million, produces automobile tires. Its productivity reached 10,000 tires per day in 2014 and expected to reach 49,000 per day. |
