Anyone who coming to Mu Cang Chai in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai will be surprised at the unique enchanting beauty made by the terraced fields on the sides of the mountains.

Each year, local residents only cultivate one rice crop. The rice is planted in May and June and harvested in October. When the rain falls , residents have to find innovative ways of ensuring that it reaches and benefits the terraced rice field. When the fields are full of water, farmers start to plough and plant rice for a new season. This is considered a good time for tourists to enjoy the poetic and romantic scenery.
