Flag raising ceremony held to mark ASEAN Community’s formation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on December 31st held an ASEAN flag raising ceremony in Hanoi to mark the formation of the ASEAN Community.
The ASEAN flag was raised to mark the formation of the ASEAN Community after nearly half of a century of efforts by all Southeast Asian nations.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and MOFA Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed that, under the ASEAN house, over 600 million Southeast Asian residents join hands to build a politically cohesive, economically integrated and socially responsible community.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Governments of ASEAN member countries and ASEAN Secretariat hold great responsibility in promoting efforts in building the ASEAN Community for greater results, satisfying the peoples’ aspiration, as well as the aspiration of international partners and friends.
