Millions of bombax ceiba flowers in blossom are creating a colourful space for Do Son district in Hai Phong city.

Don Son has nearly ten ancient bombax ceiba flower trees, ages ranging from 100 to 200 years, mainly around
Thoc wharf in Van Huong precinct and surrounding the Van Chai temple.

Van Chai temple, built in the mid-19th century, is dedicated to the worship of four female gods who rule the sea gates.

During the war against French colonialism, Van Chai Temple was a place where Viet Minh soldiers met, studied and popularized the policies of the Party.

About 30 meters from the temple, bombax ceiba flower trees located by the road display their brilliant red like a burning flame.
Bombax ceiba flower blossoms feature five petals, and form in large or small clusters.
Fallen red flowers partially cover the temple roof.
Tourists enchanted by the flowers pose under the tree.

Aiming to protect the ancient bombax ceiba flower trees, the Do Son district authority is considering adding them to the list of Vietnam’s heritage trees./.
