Ho Chi Minh city’s development throughout history

The biggest city of the country has undergone rapid development throughout all periods of its history. However, some of the constructions and street corners remain the same with its ancient characteristics.

Nha Rong port, now Ho Chi Minh Museum, was built between 1862 and 1864. At this spot in 1911, Nguyen Tat Thanh (Uncle Ho) left the country for Europe to find a way for national liberation. After the national reunification in 1975, the place became a historic site about President Ho Chi Minh.
Ben Thanh Market is one of the outstanding places in the city.
Dong Khoi road, with a length of 630 meters, is one of the road where the ancient characteristics of urban Saigon are kept.
The Independence Palace, built in 1868, is now a historical site. t.
Phan Dang Luu street, one of the most ancient streets of the city.
Hotel Majestic, a symbol of luxury in old Saigon, was built in 1925.
Hotel Continental, the oldest hotel in the city, built in 1880, was one of few original constructions left on Dong Khoi road.
The ancient pagoda at the corner of Hang Xanh crossroad remains throughout time.
The city opera house was built in 1900.
Duc Ba church was built from 1877 to 1880.
Tan Son Nhat airport’s first flight was conducted in 1933.
Le Hong Phong high school, established in 1927, is one of the three initial high schools in city. It is considered
one of the five best quality gifted high schools in the south.

The city Post Office is one of the most outstanding constructions in the city. It was built between 1886 to 1891.
