Cua Ong Temple Festival – A cultural beauty of Northeastern region

On February 28th, the Cua Ong Temple Festival 2017 opened in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
The ceremony was also held to receive the national intangible cultural heritage status granted for the festival.
During the festival, a wide range of activities, such as the incense offering ritual, quan ho folk singing, boat racing and tug-of-war, are organized.
Cua Ong Temple is dedicated to worshipping Tran Quoc Tang, the third son of Grand Duke Tran Hung Dao and a national hero in the resistance war against the Mongol invaders under the Tran Dynasty in the 13th century. The festival is held annually from the third day of the second lunar month to the 30th day of the third lunar month to commemorate Tran Quoc Tang's contributions to defeating the enemy and developing the region.
