With a water port, village gate and stone bridge, Nom Village in Dai Dong commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen province, is an ancient village bearing features of the architecture and culture of the Red River Delta region which still exists until today.

According to the elders in Nom village, they don’t know
why the village is named as Nom. In the old time, when a man and a woman got married,
they would have to donate 20 bronze trays or build dozens of meters of road with red bricks.

The village has more than ten old houses and seven clan ancestral houses. The village has an old
communal house built in the Later Le Dynasty, and later the newer greater one was built in the Nguyen Dynasty.

The entire village is a unified whole, including gates, ponds, ancient houses, markets and stone bridges. Roads around the village pond are built with red brick.

Despite the rate of urbanization, ancient houses in Nom village
still preserve their architecture and building materials.

The highlight of the village is the stone bridge with nine spans. It was carved with dragon head and crosses Nguyet Duc River to go to Nom Market. The bridge is about 2m wide and is made up of monolithic blue stones.

The feet and spans of the stone bridge have existed for more than 200 years.

The old people in Nom village today still preserve the lifestyle and clothing
from the past. They mainly do small business in the market.

According to the legend, Nom Pagoda was built in the middle of the ancient pine forest in 1680 in the Later Le Dynasty. The pagoda was the largest pagoda in Kinh Bac and contains more than 100 ancient terracotta statues.

Nom village is about 30km east of Hanoi centre. The ideal vehicle for visiting is a motorbike,
to go through green embankments and rice paddies to reach the unique old village.
