Sunflower garden blooming at Imperial Citadel of Thang Long

A garden of sunflowers, which is about 2,000 square meters, located in the centre of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, is a destination, attracting visitors at the end of the lunar year.
The garden is located among the campus of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long with blooming sunflowers
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Head of the Department of Guiding and Explaining
under the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Centre, the sunflower garden was planted about 60 days ago.
Ms. Yen added that planting of sunflowers at the relic site aims to create a highlight to attract visitors
at the end of the lunar year. Visitors both watch displays and enjoy natural space with seasonal flowers.
Representative of the management board of the relic site said that sunflower is chosen to grow because it has good vitality.
Besides, sunflower also has beautiful meaning, always towards the sun. It becomes more significant when grown at the imperial citadel.
Since January 11th, when information about the sunflower garden was
widely shared on the Internet, many visitors have rushed to enjoy and take photos.
Many photographers have gone to the garden to take beautiful photos with the flowers.
Ms. Yen shared that this sunflower garden is nursed from seeds. Expert consultation has
guided the process of caring for and fertilizing the plants. Initially, parts of the garden were destroyed by rodents.
According to the management board of the relic site, this kind of flower only lasts 15-20 days.
However, the sunflowers in Imperial Citadel of Thang Long can maintain longer, to the Lunar New Year Festival of the Dog.
Besides, the management board has made a plan to grow specific seasonal flowers in the relic site.
