Along roads across Vietnam these days, the image of the red flag with a gold star is ever-present to cheer and encourage the national football team U23 Vietnam. These flags are sewed by people in Tu Van village, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi.
On these days, after the historical victory of U23 Vietnam, they are very busy.
The first step to make a flag is to cut fabric. This step is simple but also requires
meticulous attention, because if the fabric is skews, the flag will not be square, so it must be discarded.
Tu Van village has about 10 most skilled households with over 100 laborers.
The motivation for them to continue to maintain the traditional trade is the pride of creating a part of the soul of the nation.
Fabric used to make flag is muslin, which is bought from La Ca, La Khe, Ha Dong
and other parts of the flag, such as pleiads and threads, are bought from Trieu Khuc village.
According to the elderly in the village, since the 16th century, Tu Van village has been famous for
their traditional embroidery and weaving products. At that time, many villagers opened shops
in Hanoi to sell their products. To prepare for the revolution in August 1945, the craftsmen were
asked to make national flag. Then, craftsmen were chosen into Co Do co-operative in Hang Bong
street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi to make the national flag.
According to Mr. Dao Thi Duyen, these days, orders for national flags have increased dramatically.
Some days, Ms. Duyen receives orders of up to hundreds of millions Vietnam Dong.
These days, football atmosphere is bustling everywhere across Vietnam.
The historical final match of AFC between U23 Vietnam and U23 Uzbekistan
