Three Sua trees in Quan Gia communal house

Located in the precinct of Quan Gia communal house (hamlet 5, Yen So commune, Hoai Duc district, Hanoi), are three centenarian Sua (Dalbergia tonkinensis prain) trees, with their trunks big enough that it takes two people to stretch hands around them.

In order to protect this valuable kind of tree, the government has set up a commanding position to cooperate with the villagers to protect the three precious trees.

Among the three trees, the largest one has even been agreed on a price of VND60 billion

Over time, two of the three trees show signs of decaying, the leaf canopy gradually scattered. The people of Yen So village have to use concrete to block holes on the trunks, in order to limit the progress of rot.

The remaining tree grows very well, the leaves are sumptuous

This tree also has a height of about 15m, its trunk is about one-meter diameter, with a wide canopy and good green foliage.

The top of tree is cut, the green leaves of the tree are growing by its sprouts

For about 10 years, Sua tree considered as a treasure, the price is more expensive than gold.

Collectors bought and then exported to China

Some small Sua trees have been planted in front of the communal house precinct

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ky, the villagers of Quan Gia often look after and protect the Sua trees and have no desire to sell them.
