More than 1,500-year-old pagoda among world’s most beautiful pagodas

Tran Quoc pagoda in Hanoi has been listed among the world’s ten most beautiful pagodas by the wanderlust.co.uk website of the UK.


According to the ranking of the website, Tran Quoc Pagoda ranked 3rd among 10 temples with “unbelievable” beautiful scenes. Wanderlust described Tran Quoc Pagoda the oldest temple in Hanoi which is located on a small peninsula of West Lake.

This pagoda  is more than 1,500 years old, built on the golden fish island on West Lake, Hanoi

The pagoda was also the Buddhist Center of Thang Long during the Ly - Tran Dynasties


It has three main temples, Tien Duong, the incense burning house and the upper temple.

The phoenix dragon patterns are very elaborate

The Bodhi Tree is extracted from the Great Bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya where where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment more than 25 centuries ago.

The Tower garden has many ancient towers dated from the 18th century. Highlights are Bao Thap Tower which is 15m high with 11 floors and 66 statues of Amitabha Buddha.


Under Ly Nam De (541-547), Tran Quoc was built at Yen Hoa hamlet along Hong River and is named as State Founding (Khai Quoc).

By the time of Ly Nhan Tong's reign, the majestic temple was chosen as the place for talks between Y Lan Queen Mother and eminent monks.


On the 1st and 15th days of the lunar months, Tran Quoc attracts many Buddhists and visitors. Annually, the pagoda welcomes thousands of visitors to pray for good luck and peace.

The pagoda has harmonious art space

Three years ago, the UK's second best-selling daily newspaper Daily Mail named Tran Quoc among the top 16 most mesmerising pagodas across the world./.
