Kayaking in Ha Long bay, a UNESCO World Heritage, is one of the new experiences for tourists as they can row the boats by themselves, swim in the cool seawater and touch the world heritage.
Ha Long bay is considered an ideal destination for kayaking because of its conditions of little wind and calm seas, as it is surrounded by thousands of islands.
Ha Long bay has been voted one of the top 25 kayak tourist destinations in the world by National Geographic magazine.
Kayaking is allowed in the Cong La - Ba Hang area, which is 20 kilometres from Hon Gai wharf, near the Ba Hang fishing village.Located in Hung Thang ward, Ha Long city, Ba Hang fishing village is situated next the famous Thien Cung cave.
Ba Hang fishing village has about 50 households in the village, which used to earn their living by fishing but now serve tourist activities.
A boat station is developed on an area of over 1,000 square metres. Apart from kayaks, 68 boats with sufficient safety equipment are available to serve visitors.
The name “Ba Hang” (Three caves) comes from the fact that, when the tide goes up and down, caves also appear, which allow the boats to easily move through the caves.
A mountain in the shape of an elephant is the second most attractive destination besides the system of the three caves.
The kayak service is available at only VND50,000 -100,000 per person.
Kayaks move amid imposing natural scenery, caves and stone mountains formed millions of years ago.
Ba Hang has become more popular on the tourist map after it was chosen as one of the filming locations of “Kong: Skull Island” in 2016.
