Since early June, farmers in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, the land of litchi specialty, have been happy with the price of VND35,000-60,000 per kilogram of litchi, 5 times higher than last year.
This year, Luc Ngan district’s farmers grow litchi on an area of 15,290 hectares, with over 12,000 hectares planted in accordance with the Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) or global Good Agricultural Practices (GlobalGap).
It is also the first year Luc Ngan district carries out pilot litchi production based on organic methods, creating safer products, leading to a price 3-7 times higher than for that planted under old methods.
The fruits have been exported to 30 countries, mainly to China and some others like the EU, Russia, the US, Canada and Japan.
According to the Bac Giang provincial Department of Industry and Trade, as of June 15
th, some 72,000 tons of litchi have been consumed, gaining over VND2.864 trillion.
