Central region’s largest kumquat area prepares for Tet

Some 600 families in Thanh Ha ward and Cam Ha commune in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, have developed 60,000 kumquat pots for the lunar New Year Festival (Tet). So far, 90% of the trees have been ordered.

The two localities are considered the largest kumquat area in the central region.

Kumquat trees are sold for prices ranging from VND100,000 to tens of millions of VND.

Planting 1,000 kumquat trees, Ms Nguyen Thi Hai in Thanh Ha Ward can earn nearly VND400 million in profit.

Ms Nguyen Thi Ba is caring for her 400 kumquat trees that have been sold at prices ranging from VND700,000-VND2 million.

Earlier, kumquat trees were placed in the pots before being cared for.

Mr. Ha Phuoc Thanh in Cam Ha Commune, says that he plants 200 kumquat pots. “All my trees have been sold with prices increasing by 20-30% compared to last year,” he adds.
