Highlands area famous for banana specialty

(CPV) – With its high quality, bananas in Hong Cam village, Cam Con commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province have become a four-star OCOP (one commune one product) product, promising hope of a new livelihood for local people.

With suitable soil and climatic conditions, the banana area in the commune has continuously been expanded, and reached some 30 hectares so far. 

In 2020, Hong Cam Banana Cooperative was established to practice banana production according to VietGap standards and value chain.

Hong Cam bananas have thin skin which is dark yellow when ripe, with soft, sweet and fragrant flesh.
To enhance product value, Hong Cam bananas are processed locally after harvest into Hong Cam dried banana products.
Ngu Hong Cam banana product has met 4-star OCOP standards and is a typical commodity product of Bao Yen district and Lao Cai province.
In Cam Con commune, almost every house grows Hong Cam bananas.
The strips of land along the road to the center of Cam Con commune are also used to grow bananas.
Hong Cam banana products in the recent display for cultural spaces and agricultural and forestry products typical of communes and towns in Bao Yen district.
The Hong Cam banana helps local people increase their income and opens up new and hopeful livelihoods.
Many tourists express interest in the poetic green banana gardens.
