Hue: Phu Mau flower village bright with spring colors close to Tet

Flower growers in Phu Mau commune, one of the largest flower gardens in the central Thua Thien-Hue province, are busy going to the fields in the days near the Lunar New Year (Tet) to take care of the harvest. Many tourists also come to the commune buy flowers and take photos.

| Located about 8km from the center of Hue city, Phu Mau commune is one of the famous flower growing areas, a large flower garden serving Tet in Hue. |

| From the 7th lunar month, people start sowing seeds so that by the end of December they can supply flowers to the market. |

| According to flower growers, the weather has become cold in the last days of the lunar year so flowers grow quite slowly and are not as beautiful as usual. |

| However, the flower gardens still attract a lot of buyers from the beginning of the season |

| “According to many years of experience with Tet flowers, this is good time to buy flowers, not only to choose healthy and beautiful flowers but also to be comfortable in terms of time, because some local flowers can be displayed quite a long time,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao, a buyer. |

| Every year, on this occasion, many people also go to the flower fields of Phu Mau commune to visit and take photos. |

| According to Mr. Nguyen Van Trai, Chairman of the Phu Mau Commune People’s Committee, the entire commune now has about 900 flower growing households, of which about 30 households grow flowers on a large area. Flower growing brings jobs to local people with income from 40-200 million VND a year. Many households have additional sources of economic income when Tet comes. |
