Prominent on the People's Square of Lai Chau province is the monument "Uncle Ho and Lai Chau’s groups”, a work that summarizes the history, culture and traditions of the heroic borderland.
The monument was built based on the historical milestone, when Uncle Ho visited Lai Chau in September 1959. |
The center of the monument is Uncle Ho next to representatives of the armed forces and Dao, Mong, Thai and Ha Nhi ethnic minorities and children. |
Lai Chau’s residents proudly stand under the golden words by Uncle Ho printed on the stone: "Solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity. Success, success, great success". |
To the right of the monument is a cluster of reliefs recounting the history of Lai Chau's establishment. |
Besides, it also includes the image of King Le Thai To himself going to suppress the rebellion of Deo Cat Han in the 15th century. He then wrote a poem affirming national sovereignty, carved on the Pu Huoi Cho cliffs. |
There are also images showing the development of Lai Chau, from the founding of the province in 1909, showing the solidarity among the ethnic brothers. |
On the left side of the monument is a cluster of cultural reliefs depicting the daily life and production of 20 groups living in Lai Chau by the majestic Da River. |
Uncle Ho's monument is painstakingly built of Thanh Hoa green stone. |
The monument is the pride of the people of Lai Chau province. |
