Prominent on the People's Square of Lai Chau province is the monument "Uncle Ho and Lai Chau’s groups”, a work that summarizes the history, culture and traditions of the heroic borderland.
The monument was built based on the historical milestone, when Uncle Ho visited Lai Chau in September 1959.
The center of the monument is Uncle Ho next to representatives of the armed forces and Dao, Mong, Thai and Ha Nhi ethnic minorities and children.
Lai Chau’s residents proudly stand under the golden words by Uncle Ho printed on the stone: "Solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity. Success, success, great success".
To the right of the monument is a cluster of reliefs recounting the history of Lai Chau's establishment.
Besides, it also includes the image of King Le Thai To himself going to suppress the rebellion of Deo Cat Han in the 15th century. He then wrote a poem affirming national sovereignty, carved on the Pu Huoi Cho cliffs.
There are also images showing the development of Lai Chau, from the founding of the province in 1909, showing the solidarity among the ethnic brothers.
On the left side of the monument is a cluster of cultural reliefs depicting the daily life and production of 20 groups living in Lai Chau by the majestic Da River.
Uncle Ho's monument is painstakingly built of Thanh Hoa green stone.
The monument is the pride of the people of Lai Chau province.
