At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son reviewed the process of establishing Ho Chi Minh park in Santiago de Chile since 1969 and highly appreciated the maintenance and preservation of the park by the people in Cerro Navia before many events of the time; it has become living evidence for the friendship between the two peoples.

The ambassador also highlighted the important and special significance of the inauguration of the park in 2019 to welcome three events: 50 years of implementing Ho Chi Minh’s testament; 50 years of the park in Cerro Navia district named after President Ho Chi Minh; and 50 years since President Ho Chi Minh and late Chilean President Salvador Allende had a historic meeting in Hanoi in May 1969 to lay the foundation for developing the bilateral relations later on.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son expressed his thanks to Geleximco Group, the administration of Cerro Navia district, for supporting and urgently implementing the project, creating a beautiful campus with many utilities for people.

Mr. Mauro Tamayo, mayor of Cerro Navia district, said that the friendship and cooperation between Chile and Vietnam have been strengthened during the past 50 years, with the park named after President Ho Chi Minh. The mayor said that the upgrade of the park once again showed the affection between the peoples of the two countries and sentiment of the Chilean people for President Ho Chi Minh.

On this occasion, through the Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile, the mayor of Cerro Navia wished to convey the sincere thanks of more than 130,000 people of Cerro Navia district to the Government of Vietnam and believed that the bilateral relations will continue to develop and be sustainable like Ho Chi Minh Park in Santiago de Chile in the coming time.

Besides, a photo exhibition themed “President Ho Chi Minh, hero of national liberation of Vietnam, preeminent culturist” introduces President Ho Chi Minh’s life with over 40 valuable photos. These photos will be displayed at the administrative headquarters of Cerro Navia district until December 26th./.
