Twenty two Vietnamese citizens stranded in Nepal to be brought home

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang provided information about 22 Vietnamese citizens stuck in Nepal at a press conference.

"I have updated the information from the Vietnamese Embassy in India concurrently in Nepal. Reportedly, there are 22 Vietnamese citizens stuck in Nepal due to impacts of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)," she said.

Over the past time, due to regulations on entry, exit and transit limitation of the host country as well as other countries in the region, these citizens have not been able to return to Vietnam, the spokesperson added.

According to Ms. Hang, under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal has taken initiative to contact and coordinate with the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and the Vietnamese Association in Nepal, to regularly keep in touch with the citizens in order to inquire, understand the situation and contact to support places of residence for them as well as advise them strictly follow the rules of the locality.

The spokesperson said that currently, the Vietnamese Embassy is working closely with the domestic authorities as well as actively working with the authorities of Nepal, India, and Bangladesh to soon bring these citizens home, meeting their aspirations according to the local reality and the capacity of isolation facilities in Vietnam./.
