The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt on August 13 held a solemn respect-paying ceremony and opened the funeral book for former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu.

The respect-paying ceremony was attended by Ambassador Tran Thanh Cong and all officials and staff of the embassy, and representatives of agencies besides the embassy, overseas Vietnamese community and students in Egypt.

On behalf of the embassy personnel and the Vietnamese community in Egypt, Ambassador Tran Thanh Cong read a eulogy expressing infinite regret at the departure of former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu.

The ambassador highlighted the great dedication of the former General Secretary to the glorious Revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. In the position of General Secretary and the highest leader of the Party, Comrade Le Kha Phieu was always close to the officials and people; always earnestly listened to and understood the people’s practical life. He completed his historic responsibility to contribute to promoting the reform of the country's economics, politics and foreign relations with the spirit of "closing the past, towards the future".

Before the soul of former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, the officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, representative agencies, the Vietnamese community in Egypt promised to follow his example, will continue to work together, and constantly promote the strength of great solidarity to well perform the tasks assigned by the Party and State, contributing to building and protecting the prosperous nation.

In a solemn atmosphere, the attendees of the ceremony spent a minute of silence, offering incense and flowers to commemorate former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu.

Many delegations of diplomatic missions and Egyptian friends paid respect to former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu and wrote in the funeral book to express their good feelings, praising his great contributions in the cause of fighting for national independence, construction and development./.
