80th anniversary of Vietnam People's Army celebrated in Algeria

The Embassy and Defence Attaché Office of Vietnam in Algiers held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 - 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the All-People Defence Festival (December 22, 1989 - 2024) on December 10 with the participation of 200 guests.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh highlighted the pioneering and central role of the VPA in the country’s historic struggle for independence and reunification, as well as its current process of national construction and defence. He applauded the army’s contributions to peacekeeping, disaster relief, and international cooperation, which showcase Vietnamese aspirations for a world of peace and shared prosperity.
At the event, Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long, the Vietnamese Defence Attaché to Algeria, reviewed the tremendous achievements of the VPA. He noted that in the new era, the army continues to uphold its heroic traditions and increase its capabilities and readiness to fulfill its duties.
He highlighted the All-People Defence Festival as an opportunity to honour Vietnam’s national traditions, the noble image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", and to educate the public on patriotism and socialist ideals.
On this occasion, the Embassy and Defence Attaché Office of Vietnam in Algeria screened a film introducing international friends to the formation and development of the VPA, as well as displayed photos about historical milestones in struggles for national protection in the past, national construction, and expanded international co-operation at present./.
