Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha meets overseas Vietnamese in Finland

During a working visit to Finland, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his delegation met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the capital Helsinki on November 28.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland Pham Thi Thanh Binh said that there are nearly 16,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Finland. They are always united, wholeheartedly look towards the homeland, and maintain the good cultural identity of the country.

The Vietnamese community is highly appreciated by the Finnish Government and people for their contributions to socio-economic development, creating cooperation opportunities between the two countries and bilateral relations. Most recently, the community has actively contributed to the COVID-19 vaccine fund and supported people affected by storms, floods and natural disasters.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the mutual support of overseas Vietnamese in Finland in life and work, the solidarity between generations, and towards the homeland, and the community’s compliance with the laws of the host country.

Overseas Vietnamese, including the Vietnamese community in Finland, are an inseparable part, an important resource and factor in the process of building and developing the country. The Party and State have issued many directives, mechanisms and legal policies showing concern and ensuring the rights of overseas Vietnamese in terms of land, housing and identity cards.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that his working visit to Finland aims to strengthen the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries, and exchange experiences in development based on science and technology, innovation and circular economy.

Providing some key features of the socio-economic situation in the country, the Deputy Prime Minister said that after 40 years of innovation, Vietnam has been among the top 40 economies, with trade scale and foreign investment attraction in the top 20 economies in the world, signed 17 new generation free trade agreements, and linked with over 60 major economies.

Vietnam is considered an attractive and trustworthy destination for foreign investors, with political stability, and increasingly strong investment environment policies harmonious with global standards.

He said that 2025 will be a pivotal year, preparing for the transition to a new era of the nation with ambitious and challenging goals, including two goals of 100 years of the founding of the Party, 100 years of the founding of the country; with breakthrough solutions focusing on science, technology, innovation and development models based on resources from knowledge, talent, renewable energy, green economy, circular economy, digital economy instead of natural resources.

In addition, the Party and State will reform the apparatus and administrative organization from the central to local levels, reform administrative procedures through the information technology application, and improve operational efficiency, he added./.
