A ceremony was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK on July 11 to inaugurate the Honorary Consulate Office of Vietnam in Dublin, Ireland.

The office will carry out citizen protection affairs, support the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Ireland, enhance the introduction and promotion of the country and people of Vietnam in Dublin in particular and the Republic of Ireland in general, helping to foster the cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ireland Nguyen Hoang Long thanked the Irish authorities for creating favorable conditions for Vietnam to open the Honorary Consulate Office in Dublin.
The ambassador believed that the opening of the Honorary Consulate Office is an important step in boosting the political, trade, investment, education, science and technology cooperation between the two nations, thus maintaining and deepening the friendship relations between the two peoples.
Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs Sean Fleming congratulated the opening of the Honorary Consulate Office of Vietnam in Dublin, adding that the two nations have gained achievements over the last 27 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Earlier in May, Mr. Patrick Gerard McKillen was appointed as the first Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Dublin.
He expressed his honor to hold the post, committing to make all efforts to carry functions and tasks of the consulate./.
