An event was held by the General Association of Vietnamese in Belgium (UGVB) in Brussels on September 15 to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, UGVB President Huynh Cong My asked all participants pay a tribute to the victims of Typhoon Yagi and called on the community to raise funds to support those affected by the typhoon.
Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao sent his congratulations to the children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and emphasized that they are the future generation, contributing their intelligence and talent to both Vietnam and Belgium.
He appreciated the UGVB’s efforts in creating a useful playground, helping to connect overseas Vietnamese. The Ambassador also thanked the Vietnamese community in Belgium for sharing and contributing to people who are facing difficulties due to natural disasters in Vietnam.
A cultural highlight of the event was the traditional 'Ao dai' fashion show, featuring Belgian husbands and Vietnamese-Belgian children. The flowing 'Ao dai', imbued with rich Vietnamese symbolism, created a bridge between the two cultures.
In addition, a food fair held by charity group “Friends for Vietnamese Kids” to raise funds for poor students in Bac Giang province. The fair included Vietnamese specialities such as mooncakes, 'pho' (noodle soup), spring rolls and sticky rice, attracting a large number of visitors.
The festival raised a total of 1,110 EUR (1,234 USD) to support people affected by natural disaster in Vietnam./.
