Offering incense to commemorate heroes and martyrs in Luang Prabang

The Consulate General of Vietnam on July 27 held a ceremony at Phat Tich Pagoda in Luang Prabang city, Laos, to offer incense and flowers to commemorate the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the resistance wars against the common enemy of the two peoples.

The event was organized on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2021), according to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Laos.

The ceremony was attended by Consul General Nguyen Dang Hung and all officers and staff of the Consulate General, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Luang Prabang, and representatives of Vietnamese agencies, units and businesses in the city.

In the sacred and solemn atmosphere, the delegates respectfully offered incense in memory of the previous generations sacrificed for national independence, for the great friendship and special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

According to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang, this annual event is an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Northern Laos to express their deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs, who sacrificed themselves for the independence and freedom of the people of Vietnam and Laos.

This is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Luang Prabang, especially the younger generation, to review and understand more about the tradition of fighting solidarity in the cause of the struggle for national independence and reunification in the previous time, as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland of the two peoples of Laos and Vietnam today. Then they will continue to preserve and cultivate the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, two states and the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

Phat Tich Pagoda in Luang Prabang is the site of the memorial tablets of 6 Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Luang Prabang during the resistance war against the US.

This is also the "common spiritual house" of the Vietnamese community in Luang Prabang. It is the place where Vietnamese Buddhists in this province regularly organize traditional cultural activities of the nation./.
