This is a profound significant work, not only contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of Vietnam but also promoting the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Thailand. Specifically, this project strengthens the connection between Khon Kaen city and the capital Hanoi.
Sharing about the above event, Mr. Monty Xinhha Punnaphat, Deputy Mayor of Khon Kaen city, emphasized that the One Pillar Pagoda in this city is not only a spiritual symbol but also a bridge connecting the people of the two countries.
For his part, Mr. Tran Thanh Trung, representative of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, expressed his sincere thanks to the Thai Government, the Khon Kaen City government and the Vietnamese community for their efforts to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of Vietnam in Thailand.
The One Pillar Pagoda was built in the Ken Nakhon Lake area, one of the most beautiful lakes in Khon Kaen. The project was started in 2007, based on the prototype of the One Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi. In 2023, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen promoted the synchronous completion of the pagoda area with the construction of a lotus pond at the foot of the pagoda.
The total cost of the project is nearly 4.8 million baht (more than 3.3 billion VND). The construction of a replica of the One Pillar Pagoda in Khon Kaen helps overseas Vietnamese have the opportunity to get close to their homeland's cultural space, like returning to the capital Hanoi and being close to beloved Uncle Ho./.
