In response to the appeal of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, two football tournaments of the Vietnamese community in Chubu and Kyushu regions of Japan took place on September 15 to raise funds to support people severely affected by storm No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi) in the northern provinces of Vietnam.

The tournaments attracted the participation of 32 teams, including non-professional Vietnamese players studying, working and living in the Chubu and Kyushu regions.
These are also competitions within the framework of sports activities of the Vietnamese community in Japan organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka.
On this occasion, the organizing board sent an appeal for the spirit of mutual love of overseas Vietnamese, joining hands to support people heavily affected by the recent storm No. 3.
At the FAVIJA CHUBU CUP held in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture and the FAVIJA KYUSHU CUP held in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the organizing board raised a total of 346,500 JPY in cash (about 2,500 USD).
In addition to receiving direct donations at the stadium, the Organizing Board also provided account of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee so that Vietnamese individuals, organizations and businesses in Japan can continue to support the typhoon victims to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
In addition, FAVIJA will also collect contributions from other sports tournaments of overseas Vietnamese in Japan such as badminton and karate, as well as from affiliated member associations and send them back to the country through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 18.
After a day of competition, the tournaments determined the three best teams representing the Chubu and Kyushu regions to participate in the football tournament of the Vietnamese community in Japan held in the capital Tokyo at the end of November./.
