Overseas Vietnamese in Australia support people affected by Typhoon Yagi

Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam on September 25 received a working delegation of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization led by Deputy Head Pham Tat Thang.

At the working session, Mr. Thang expressed his impression at the contributions by the Vietnamese community, intellectuals and students in Australia.

He also highly appreciated the embassy’s efforts and contributions to strengthening and consolidating the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

On this occasion, Ambassador Tam handed over 12,700 AUD (8,700 USD) to the delegation to support people affected by Typhoon Yagi.

According to the Ambassador, the Vietnamese community in Australia has contributed a total of around 5 billion VND in support of people affected by natural disasters.

On the same day, Mr. Thang met with Kim Sampson, President of the Australia-Vietnam Friendship Society, at the headquarters of the embassy to discuss measures to improve the effectiveness of the society's activities and strengthen cooperation to continue nurturing the friendship between the two peoples.

During the working trip, the delegation also had working sessions with representatives from the Australian Department of Social Services and the Australian Public Service Commission in Canberra./.
