Speaking at the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival of the Vietnamese community in Singapore held on September 15, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung emphasized that this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is not complete, because children in areas affected by Storm No. 3 do not have a Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Ambassador called on the community to respond to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and join hands to support people at home to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, so that students in storm-hit areas can soon continue to go to school.
Meanwhile, according to the Singaporean Embassy in Vietnam, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has announced a contribution of 50,000 SGD (950 million VND) to support the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC).
A response team from the SRC is scheduled to be deployed to Vietnam to support relief efforts. Singaporean businesses in Vietnam, under the name "SG Community Cares," have also jointly pledged to contribute 1.5 billion VND to support relief and recovery efforts.
Wilmar, a Singaporean company with a long-standing presence in Vietnam, is launching an initiative that aims to raise 400,000 USD (10 billion VND) to support typhoon victims and first responders in severely affected areas, especially Quang Ninh province, with essential supplies and cash.
The Temasek Foundation in Singapore also announced that it is arranging support for Lao Cai province and Hai Phong city, and coordinated to meet the need for fresh water in Thai Nguyen province./.
