This is the third time Mr. Shrestha has been appointed Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vietnamese Ambassador to India cum the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nepal and Bhutan, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized that the event is an important milestone in the relations of the two countries and a remarkable result in the persistent efforts of the Embassy and authorities of Vietnam and Nepal after many years of promoting cooperation in the consular field.
Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai believed that with the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Nepal, with his capacity, experience and deep affection for Vietnam, Mr. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha will well complete the assigned tasks, making outstanding contributions to promoting economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
At the ceremony, Mr. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha said that this is an important event in his life and career. Honored and proud to be associated with Vietnam, he expressed his determination to perform well his role of representative and dedicated himself to implementing related activities, including citizen protection and supporting the Vietnamese community in the host country; strengthen information and promotion about the country and people of Vietnam in Nepal; at the same time promoting economic, trade, cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal Rajesh Kazi Shrestha said that his first plan as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal is to promote Vietnam's trade, investment and tourism to Nepal.
“I would like to see more Vietnamese people coming to Nepal for tourism and religious purposes. Another thing is that I want to promote the opening of direct flights between Vietnam and Nepal,” he added.
In the context of developing relations between Vietnam and Nepal, especially in the post-COVID-19 context, the re-appointment of Mr. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal has timely met the demand for deepening cooperation between the two countries while handling arising consular and economic issues.
Mr. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, 61 years old, is a successful businessman in many fields, and used to be a Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Services; President of the Nepal International Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of Nepal - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Vice President of World and Indian Association for Small and Medium Enterprises; and member of the Nepal Investment Board./.
