During the meetings, the delegation updated participants on policies and laws related to the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Vietnamese such as the Land Law, the Housing Law, and the Law on Real Estate Business and Law on Citizen Identification; sea and island issues, programs for overseas Vietnamese, and particularly human resources.
It also briefed them on activities organized for overseas Vietnamese in the homeland every year such as Homeland Spring program, trip to Truong Sa Archipelago for overseas Vietnamese and Vietnam Summer Camp for young overseas Vietnamese, as well as opportunities for them to contribute their opinions to the law-making process and the drafting of other political documents.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Bac, an overseas Vietnamese entrepreneur in Canada investing in Vietnam, said that the information provided by the delegation was very useful and affirmed that the Party and the State are creating the best possible policies for the overseas Vietnamese community.
According to Julie Nguyen, President of the Canada-Vietnam Trade Council, the delegation's visit was an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to propose initiatives on promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries; proposals related to domestic policies to create conditions for overseas Vietnamese to invest in the homeland and suggestions for connecting Canadian businesses with Vietnamese companies; and providing vocational training under Canadian-standard for Vietnamese workers who wish to work legally in Canada.
In addition, overseas Vietnamese in Canada also proposed connecting companies of overseas Vietnamese in the country with domestic companies.
Deputy Foreign Minister Hang, who is also Chairwoman of the SCOV, said that the feedback from the community reflects their constant connection to the homeland and their desire to contribute more to the country.
On the occasion, the delegation visited and worked with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver and the Vietnam-Canada Business Association in the West Coast, and representatives of the 88 Supermarket chain, which is connecting with many domestic businesses to export Vietnamese goods to Canada./.
