Overseas Vietnamese still mainly maintain their living habits as when they were in their homeland, so food and consumer goods are often imported from Vietnam or other Asian countries.
Recognizing this need, the supermarket 88 chain has been established and become a familiar address for the Vietnamese community in Vancouver thanks to have many types of traditional foods.
This is a small supermarket chain, but has almost all ingredients of vegetables and food for a Vietnamese family meal.
This supermarket chain is very proud because most Vietnamese people in Vancouver know Supermarket 88, said Mr. Tran Tien while sharing with correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency in Canada.
This supermarket chain has a full range of Vietnamese and Asian products, so almost all Vietnamese people in Vancouver know it.
He affirmed that about 60-70% of Vietnamese people in Vancouver shop at this supermarket chain.
Starting from a very simple idea to serve the daily needs of overseas Vietnamese, Mr. Chau Tu Cuong decided to establish the first Supermarket 88 in 2008.
In the past two years, Mr. Cuong has opened two more stores in Vancouver and he is going to soon open more branches in other cities to serve overseas Vietnamese in Canada.
At the Supermarket 88 chain, in addition to fresh meat and seafood, there are also many imported goods from Vietnam, mainly dried goods, frozen goods, canned goods or vegetables and fruits of Vietnam.
According to Mr. Tien, Supermarket 88 has all the necessary items that a Vietnamese family uses every day.
Ms. Ha, a customer living near Supermarket 88, shared that this supermarket has all goods that Vietnamese people need such as rice and spices that suit her family’s taste, so she chose it.
In addition to essential goods, the supermarket 88 chain also has some items that are typical of Vietnam such as incense or worship items according to Vietnamese customs.
Moreover, the staff here are also quite friendly and dedicated, with the working criteria to bring joy to customers./.
