Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam on November 28 received the leadership of the Southeast Asia Center of the University of Sydney at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia.

Professor Gregory Fox, Director of the Southeast Asia Center, introduced the cooperation achievements of the University of Sydney Vietnam Institute (USVI) in recent times. USVI has established branches in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Can Tho; and plans to expand its operations in Hue, An Giang and Ca Mau provinces.
In addition to the medical field, USVI wishes to strengthen research and training cooperation between the Center and Vietnamese partners in other fields such as agriculture, science and technology, climate change; and considers strengthening the 2+2 linkage mechanism between the University of Sydney and Vietnamese universities (Vietnamese students study two years in Vietnam and two years at the University of Sydney).
Professor Tiho Ancev, Deputy Director of Research Development, proposed the idea of building a knowledge partnership between training institutions of the two countries, including joint research to benefit the people communities of both sides.
Professor Gregory Fox emphasized that the University of Sydney is among the Group of eight largest universities in Australia (G8), and actively supports the creation of conditions for international students, including Vietnamese students, to study in Australia.
Ambassador Pham Hung Tam highly appreciated the educational and training cooperation between the two countries, considering it one of the priority areas in the cooperation relationship between the two countries as well as the interest of Vietnamese leaders; sharing the priority areas in educational and research cooperation between the two countries on low-carbon agriculture, science and technology and climate change.
Leaders at the central and local levels as well as Vietnamese universities are highly interested in educational cooperation and research exchanges with Australian partners./.
