The two sides highly appreciated the development of bilateral economic-trade and investment relations in recent years, especially in the context that the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has officially taken effect from August 1, 2020.
This agreement creates more favorable conditions for the business communities of the two countries to expand their business activities and seek new investment opportunities.
Vietnam wishes to receive Austria’s leading technologies to improve the competitiveness of the economy. Vietnam also wants more opportunities to bring high-quality agricultural products to the Austrian market and consumers.
For that goal, the two sides agreed to organize many thematic activities in the coming time to promote each other's products and connect trade, including activities within the framework of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Austria relations in 2022.
Mr. Michael Estrl committed to continue accompanying the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria in advocating for early ratification of the EU - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement.
Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien thanked Austria for its support and said that Austrian businesses have many opportunities and prospects when investing in Vietnam in the future.
Austrian companies can invest in Vietnam to access the market of 97 million people, as well as through Vietnam to access the ASEAN market with 670 million consumers.
Reaffirming their desire to cooperate in vocational and labour training, especially in the fields of information technology and nursing, the two sides look forward to soon starting a pilot project with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber on implementing Austria’s vocational training model in Vietnam, strengthening cooperation in the field of e-commerce, aiming to serve the interests of small and medium sized enterprises and micro enterprises.
The two sides agreed to maintain and soon restart the regular round-table meeting (every quarter) between the Vietnamese Embassy and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Digital and Economic Affairs in order to remove difficulties in bilateral cooperation and exchange information about opportunities and potential areas for cooperation./.
