The meeting took place after Governor Kate Brown's very successful visit to Vietnam in November 2022.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Kate Brown expressed her delight at the results of her recent visit to Vietnam, and thanked the Embassy and Vietnamese agencies for their support to make the visit successful.
Affirming the importance of developing relations with Vietnam, the 8th largest export partner and a potential market of Oregon State, Ms. Kate Brown said that the cooperation potential between the two sides is still great, especially in the fields of agricultural products import and export, investment, clean energy, education and training, cultural exchange and tourism.
Sharing about the visit to the headquarters of Nike, Intel, and Columbia Sportswear in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Kate Brown hoped that in the coming time there would be more opportunities to expand goods exchange between the two sides, and agreed to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods and agricultural products to be exported more to Oregon State in particular and the US in general.
Highly appreciating the Vietnamese community in Oregon State and expressing her delight at the fact that five Vietnamese original people were elected to important positions in the House of Representatives of Oregon State in the last election, the Governor affirmed that she would create more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community and students to live and study in Oregon.
For his part, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung thanked the leaders of Oregon State and the Governor for the sentiments and good evaluations toward Vietnam, and expressed his delight at the results of the Governor's recent visit to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Ambassador affirmed that the Embassy would make every effort to contribute to promoting and expanding cooperation between Vietnam and the US, including Oregon.
He said that in the overall relationship with the US, Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperation with Oregon State because it is the leading economic, industrial, science-technology and clean technology center of the US, and also a place to live, study and work for tens of thousands of Vietnamese people.
Reviewing the impressions of his visit to Oregon in June 2022, the Ambassador wished that the relationship between the two sides would continue to develop strongly, especially cooperation in tourism and Vietnamese language training through the bilingual program, high-tech human resource training and agricultural product import.
He reiterated his request to Governor Kate Brown to continue to pay attention and create conditions for the Vietnamese community in Oregon to develop./.
