Vietnamese communities in Hong Kong, Macau (China) raise funds for flood-affected regions

Overseas Vietnamese communities in China’s Hong Kong and Macau have launched fundraising campaigns to support those affected by Typhoon Yagi and floods in Vietnam.

As of September 18, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong, along with staff members of various Vietnamese agencies and organizations, and other Vietnamese groups in the region had sent nearly 485 million VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Bao Anh, Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong, highlighted the spirit of solidarity and mutual support in helping people at home recover from the storm’s aftermath.

As a newly established organization, the association wishes to become a part of Vietnam in Hong Kong, joining hands to develop the overseas Vietnamese community to demonstrate the beauty of Vietnamese culture and people and the national position of Vietnam abroad.

As of September 17, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macau had raised 134,000 MOP (415 million VND) in support of people affected by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam.

Mr. Duong Trung Duc, Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macau, said that immediately after learning about the situation, the Executive Committee of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macau and 21 branches of provinces and cities called for support from people and philanthropists to support people in areas heavily affected by natural disasters in Vietnam./.
