Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, President of the Union of Overseas Vietnamese Associations in Germany, said that the donation is a substantial amount, beyond the expectations and calculation of the union, reflecting the heartfelt sentiments of the overseas Vietnamese community towards their homeland in general and specifically towards the people in the northern region.
On September 11, all officers and employees of the embassy and representative agencies besides the embassy launched a fundraising campaign to donate at least three days' salary per person with a total amount of 3,330 EUR (93 million VND); the Vietnamese Women's Union in Germany, headed by President Trinh Thi Mui, launched a campaign to support flood victims in the homeland with a total amount of 17,510 EUR (500 million VND) collected by September 16.
In recent days, in most cities home to Vietnamese communities, associations have organized the Mid-Autumn Festival in combination with fundraising activities, joining hands to support flood victims in the homeland./.
