Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia celebrates 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations

The Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia recently held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mongolia (November 17, 1954 - 2024).

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Nguyen Tuan Thanh emphasized that the friendship between the two countries was founded by President Ho Chi Minh and First Secretary of the People's Revolutionary Party, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Mongolia Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal, and has been diligently cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. The relationship between the two countries was built on the foundation of mutual understanding, respect and trust, has been tempered through difficulties and challenges, and has continuously developed and become an invaluable asset of the two peoples.

Over the past 70 years, the cooperative and friendly relations between Vietnam and Mongolia have developed strongly and extensively, and made many important and great achievements in all fields from politics, diplomacy, security, defense to economy, trade, culture, education, people-to-people exchange, and cooperation between localities.

In particular, the visit to Vietnam in November 2023 by President Ukhnaagin Khurelsukh and the visit to Mongolia in September 2024 by General Secretary and President To Lam opened a new page in history, upgrading the relationship between the two countries to the level of "Comprehensive Partnership".

Ambassador Thanh believed that in the coming time, under the attention and direction of the two countries' senior leaders, especially with the new framework of relations, the bilateral relations will enter a new stage of development that is more effective, substantive, comprehensive and sustainable, meeting the aspirations and common interests of the two countries and their peoples. The development of Vietnam - Mongolia relations will not only benefit the two peoples, but will also contribute to promoting peace, stability and development in Asia and the world.

For his part, Vice President of the Mongolian National Assembly Bukhchuluun Purevdorj said that over the past 70 years, the relationship between Mongolia and Vietnam based on the principle of "friendship and cooperation" has continuously expanded and developed. The deep attachment between the Mongolian and Vietnamese people is demonstrated through mutual support during difficult times in the past. The elevation of the relationship to “Comprehensive Partnership” is a particularly important event written in golden letters in the history of bilateral relations. This event marks a new beginning and opens the way for bilateral cooperation in the next 70 years./.
