Vietnamese language class launched for Vietnamese children in Japan

A Vietnamese language class for Vietnamese children of the 2nd and 3rd generation in Kansai region, Osaka, Japan attracted more than 100 students at ages 5-14, including 30 students studying at the class and 70 students studying online.

The class was organized by Bamboo Tre Vietnamese Language School, the first community school in Japan, in coordination with the Vietnamese Women's Association in the Kansai region, the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, and the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in response to the Project on Honoring Vietnamese Language in the overseas Vietnamese community.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Le Thuong, founder of Bamboo Tree Vietnamese Language School, Standing Vice President of the Vietnamese Women's Union in the Kansai region, expressed her hope that through learning Vietnamese language, the children will not only use their mother tongue, but also understand more about the culture, history and traditions of Vietnam.

"Learning Vietnamese language not only helps children develop themselves, but also contributes to strengthening the relationship between family members, enhancing the role and position of Vietnamese language in the Land of the Rising Sun," she said.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ngo Trinh Ha, Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, highly appreciated the efforts of the organizing board, teachers and parents to open this class for the children.

Congratulating the opening ceremony of the class, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his hope that this free teaching and learning project will be a bridge of friendship between Vietnam and Japan.

The Vietnamese community in Japan now has about 600,000 people./.
