Vietnamese Lion and Dragon dance promoted to international community

The event aimed to introduce the Vietnamese Lion and Dragon dance to the international community, develop it widely and set the stage for high-achieving competition.

At the beginning of the performance program, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in France Le Thi Hong Van beat the drum, setting the pace for a festive drum performance, imbued with traditional Vietnamese culture.

Right after the festive drums, Lion and Dragon dance was performed, along with performances of Vietnamese martial arts disciplines in France such as Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao, Son Long Quyen Thuat, Minh Long and so on.

Chairman of the Vietnam Lion-Dragon Federation, Master Pham Quang Long, shared that the Vietnamese Lion and Dragon dance has a history of thousands of years, and has been depicted in Dong Ho folk paintings and Hang Trong paintings. He expressed his hope that the art will become a strong sport of Vietnam and be included in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

Master Long affirmed that with the purpose of promoting Vietnamese culture to the international community, the Vietnam Lion and Dragon Dance Federation is ready to coordinate with the world Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao General Federation to organize free performances during holidays and New Year for the community.

He hopes to soon establish the World Lion and Dragon Federation to promote Vietnamese culture to the international community.

The Vietnam Lion and Dragon Federation was established on April 15, 2023. This is the first performance organized by the federation abroad, which has a particularly important meaning, contributing to promoting the development of folk cultural arts, while promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends./.
