The event was attended by 50 Vietnamese delegates, including six representatives from the Vietnamese localities of Ha Tinh, Yen Bai, Ha Nam, Thua Thien Hue, Hoa Binh and Gia Lai, 35 US delegates including Congresspersons and officials of Texas, representatives of the Department of Commerce of the US in Texas, representatives of corporations, businesses, universities and representatives of the Asian business community in the US.
In the opening remarks, Vietnamese Consul General in Houston Hoang Thuy Duong and Secretary of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee Hoang Trung Dung affirmed that the discussion is an opportunity for Vietnamese localities to introduce their potential, strengths and cooperation demands with US partners.
The discussion opened up many cooperation opportunities between localities of the two countries in various fields, meeting the requirements of business development, expanding investment and trade, promoting people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to strengthening and consolidating the Vietnam-US comprehensive strategic partnership. Delegates believe that with a proactive, positive and constructive spirit, the relationship between localities of the two countries will further develop.
US businesses expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners, and are ready to support Vietnamese businesses in connecting, seeking investors, and sharing experience in working with major American partners, experience in building and developing businesses, developing brands and collaborating for mutual development.
Many cooperation contents have achieved initial results in the connection session such as building the Hoa Trang coffee brand of Gia Lai province; An Phat Group connects US investors to high-tech zones in Ha Nam province; AN Global Group shares legal regulations and standards for import and export business of the US, and wishes to coordinate with Vietnamese partners to build and develop the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) company model, brand development, franchising; Thua Thien Hue province is negotiating with US partners on investing in LNG project in Chan May economic zone. Many US businesses pledge to soon visit Vietnam and localities participating in the discussion to seek investment opportunities.
Speaking at the conclusion of the discussion, Ms. Dinh Thi Lua, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that the discussion was a great success and helped Vietnamese localities and businesses better understand the needs of their US partners.
This is also a very good opportunity for Vietnamese localities to promote more about their potential, advantages, and investment environment; At the same time, it demonstrates the trust of US businesses in the investment and business environment in Vietnamese localities and in Vietnam in general, she added.
She proposed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston continue to support localities in specifically connecting with US partners. Vietnamese localities will continue to strengthen administrative reform, building a safer, more attractive, transparent and favorable investment environment for foreign investors in general and American investors in particular.
Within the framework of the program, the delegation of Vietnamese localities had a working session with the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston./.
